January 17 Fundies say the Darndest thingsAll too often a group of people get a tarnished reputation because of the behaviour of a small selection. Unfortunately for the religious people, fundamentalists seem to be the most vocal of all Christians; and there's a site which is keeping track of all the affectionately-named "Fundies" on the internet. Behold: "What megalomaniacs we are to think God should only answer Human prayers! We cannot say at this point in time, if a person dies of TB that prayer did not work, for maybe in their own primitive way the TB germs were also praying. We just don't know these things yet." Dr. Larry Dossey, ProofGodExists.org "COMPUTERS SMARTER THAN ATHEISTS Even though computers aren't capable of rational thought and know nothing about morals, yet they have more sense than the most learned atheist. Case and point: The other day while working on a PC, I began deleting unwanted files. There was an html file that showed all of the TEN COMMANDMENTS. Since it was a duplicate file, I decided to delete it also. When I clicked "delete", the usual message came on the screen that said, "Are you sure you want to send the 'TEN COMMANDMENTS' to the Recycle bin?" The question struck me very deeply because of how it was worded and for a moment I hesitated to delete the file. After clicking "yes", a message box came up on the screen that said an illegal act had been performed by a program. Now what atheist or heathen has sense enough to think as correctly as that unthinking computer. Atheists do not think it's an illegal act to try to destroy the TEN COMMANDMENTS." Robert T Lee, The 10 Commandments Don't forget to vote in the Poll for the best quote of 2006. January 15 WikimapiaThough not part of the close-to-our-hearts Wikimedia foundation, Wikimapia is the newest site to come out of the wiki family. Using the Google Maps facility combined with the fountain of knowledge that is Wikipedia, its motto is "Let's describe the whole world!" Useful for those times you're browsing Google Earth and wonder "What the hell is that?". Not so useful as it's still in early stages - you often find "that" isn't labelled but 53 Park Avenue a few hundreds yards away is. Article submitted by Sahra. |
